Each year, student leaders at our member schools raise thousands of dollars for a special State Charity that is chosen by their State Officers each April.
At the Spring Awards Program in May the overall donation to the outgoing State Charity is presented (see above) and the newly selected State Charity for the coming year is announced. Awards are also are presented to schools for various levels of support ($1000 Club, $2000 Club, $5000 Club, $10000 Club) and to the top three middle and high schools in the state.

Sherrie and Michael Wells started the Hugs for Brady Foundation in 2009, shortly after their 13 month old son, Brady Michael, was diagnosed with Non-Differentiated Acute Leukemia, a very rare form of leukemia. In 2010, Brady passed away at 23 months old, after he had bravely battled the disease for ten months.
The Hugs for Brady Foundation is dedicated to helping children with childhood cancers. Our moral compass has directed us to support children with cancer in any and every way possible.
Every year, over 13,500 children are diagnosed with cancer in the US. The Hugs for Brady Foundation was started to help end pediatric cancer for good, and we will not rest until childhood cancers of all types are a forgotten nightmare. Sadly, when it comes to pedicatric cancer, there's still a lot of work to be done...
The Hugs for Brady Foundation directly funds…
From buying custom built Brady Buggy Wagons, computers, TVs and video games, to the funding of the New Jersey’s first pediatric hematology/oncology young investigator program; every dollar donated is spent in the pursuit to make the lives of children with cancer better. Our non-profit organization serves people of all races, creeds, and religions. We do not discriminate. We merely support all causes concerning pediatric cancer. No child is turned away— no matter what their financial status or if they do not have health insurance. According to our calculations, it costs about $10,000 day to be a patient on the pediatric oncology floor.
We look forward to the student leaders of New Jersey coming together, as they have each year for OVER 40 YEARS, to support our State Charity and this worthy cause in 2023-2024!
Our State Charity program dates back over 40 years and has raised over four million dollars for a variety of worthy causes...
