"Before you are a leader, success is all about growing yourself. When you become a leader, success is all about growing others." - Jack Welch
Hey, New Jersey! I am Dominic Decker and I am absolutely honored to be your NJASC President. I have always been told I was a natural leader, but was not able to find out for myself until freshman year. Now that I have found those natural abilities and have advanced them, I am ready to make an impact in New Jersey. Throughout high school, I have grown extremely passionate about leadership and student council. The NJASC has made an enormous impression on me and now I want to share that impression with the students of New Jersey.
I am a junior at Holy Cross Academy in Delran, where I currently hold the position of Vice President on our Executive Board. I have also been elected as the Freshman and Sophomore Class President. Holding these positions helped me realize that I feel called to helping others and making a difference in my community. At Holy Cross, my involvement is not restricted to student council. I play on the soccer and basketball teams and was inducted into the National Honors Society. I am also a member of Key Club- a service club, Special Olympics Club, and the Future Business Leaders of America. I also make a difference by being a part of Caritas, a group of teens that interacts with special needs teens. Seeing the faces of these teens, inspires me to continue to make a difference.
I want to thank everyone who has supported me, especially my parents and Holy Cross. I am beyond grateful and excited to work with the new Executive Board. We will make sure 2018 is a year full of promise and opportunity,to expand and grow. Together we will continue to influence the students of New Jersey and make a difference!

"A leader is one who knows the way, goes the way, and shows the way." - John C. Maxwell
What’s happening, New Jersey?! My name is Sonit Puri and I am honored to have the opportunity to serve as your NJASC Vice President for the upcoming year! Student leadership and NJASC have been passions of mine since middle school. The fact that I am now able to serve as a leader for an organization that has granted me opportunities which shaped my personality and drive to pursue leadership, is truly astounding. I am beyond eager to begin working with my fellow executive board members to make a statewide impact on student councils, charities, and individuals.
I am currently a sophomore at the Mercer County Technical Schools-Health Science Academy. At my school and in my community, I participate in a variety of leadership activities and service projects in hopes that we can develop into a place where people help others out not only locally but across the globe. Some of these organizations are my student council, where I am the NJASC Liaison, the Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA)Secretary, the South Asian Club Skit Head, and the Model United Nations (MUN) Under Secretary General. My interest for leadership sparked in the 8th grade when I was elected President of both my middle school student council and the Jr.O’Ambassadors. Through these clubs, community service and the international work that I have been lucky enough to partake in, I was able to develop a deeply rooted love for student leadership. I am eager to bring the skills I have acquired through my experiences to the NJASC so that we can set ambitious goals and achieve them as a state.
I am very grateful for having the support of my advisor, Ms.Hendrickson, my cousin Parnika, and the fellow student leaders in my school who took time to help me with my campaign. This team was great at being unified, focused, and efficient. Now that I have the opportunity to represent this state’s student leaders, I will set forth the most of my efforts to ensure that we make the biggest impact possible. I am excited to see what this year holds and how much we can impact student councils across New Jersey. Let’s take NJASC Up, Up, and Away!

"It is a curious thing, Harry, but perhaps those who are best suited to power are those who have never sought it. Those who, like you, have leadership thrust upon them, and take up the mantle because they must, and find to their own surprise that they wear it well." – Albus Dumbledore
Hey, New Jersey! My name is Hetvi Patwa and I am extremely honored to be your 2018 NJASC Secretary. Throughout the various stages of my life, leadership has remained constant. Whether it be through school or sports, I have always attempted to fit some form of leadership into my life.
I am a junior at Kingsway Regional High School and I am currently involved in student council, class office, and the girls’ volleyball team. In student council, I hold an executive member position and am on the team for events. Additionally, I have been the vice president of my class for three consecutive years. On top of that, I have played volleyball year round for three years. Outside of school, I play on a club volleyball team in the winter and spring, and I play beach volleyball in the summer. Through these activities, I have learned the huge difference a team can make when everyone works together whether it be on a court or in school. After attending my first NJASC Conference in 2016 and watching one of my fellow teammates run and win for the position of secretary, I knew I had to follow in her footsteps when I got the chance.
I am immensely grateful that I earned this opportunity to serve as your secretary. I would not be in this position without the support from my school, advisors, friends, and family, for which I am endlessly thankful. I am so excited to work with my fellow officers to make 2018 another memorable year for NJASC.

“Change is the law of life. And those who look only to the past or present are certain to miss the future.” - John F. Kennedy
Hey, New Jersey!!! I’m Chris Forlini and I'm so pumped to be your 2018 NJASC Treasurer. I knew I wanted to be a State Officer at my first Fall Business Conference, my sophomore year. I watched as the officers led with confidence and had the respect of everyone, which made me want to be just like them. With the help and support of everyone in my school, I am so happy to have that dream become reality.
I am currently a junior at Shore Regional High School. I have been on Student Council since my sophomore year, and the two years I have been on have shaped me into being the leader I am today. Along with Student Council, I have been an advisor to my class, a varsity swimmer, and a member of model UN to name a few. Along with school, I love to ski, hang out with my friends, and go fishing. I have also worked at my local Carvel since I was 14. Even though I have a very busy lifestyle, student council will always come first.
I would like to thank my advisors Ms. Cronk and Mrs. Ross for all the help they gave me with everything that they do. I am so thankful for all of my Student Council for giving me the support on this journey. I would like to thank all my friends who are always there for me. Lastly, I would like to thank my parents because, without them, none of this would be possible. I cannot wait to make a difference with all of you this year. Please feel free to contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org.

“When it is obvious that the goals cannot be reached, don’t adjust the goals, adjust the action steps.” - Confucius
Hey New Jersey, hope you’re having a great day! My name is Nina Gohel and I am honored to serve as your NJASC Executive Member of Special Projects. Student Council and NJASC have both played a huge role my life since middle school. These organizations have become a part of me, shaping me into the person and leader I am today. I am so grateful to be given an opportunity to work alongside a board of leaders–that have the same passion as I–to inspire students across New Jersey to achieve their goals, pursue leadership and make a positive impact on their schools.
I am currently a junior at Lenape High School. Throughout my time spent at Lenape I have enjoyed well-versing myself in its community, specifically student government. Since my freshman year, I have served on the Executive Board for both my schools Class Office and Student Council. In addition to student government, I also enjoy participating in Lenape’s Latin Club, Community Service Club, WOW Club, Mock Trial, DECA, Model UN, Girls’ Varsity Golf and National Honor Society. My involvement in these organizations and serving as Lenape’s representative for the Ronald McDonald House of Southern New Jersey has encouraged me to pursue my passion for helping sick children by creating the Helping Hands Club. Outside of the Lenape community, I enjoy advocating for equality, as a member of Alice Paul’s Girls Advisory Council. I also like to lobby for the ERA and Planned Parenthood at the New Jersey State House and Capitol Hill. Overall, these organizations and experiences have not only taught me valuable skills, but have allowed me to implement positive change wherever I may go.
I am overjoyed to take on my role as an NJASC Board Member this year! I would like to thank my advisors, friends, family and Lenape’s Student Council for supporting me throughout this campaign process. My fellow State Officers and I are looking forward to a great year, and together we will achieve our goals to create a better New Jersey!

"In a world of complex threats, our security and leadership depends on all elements of our power - including strong and principled diplomacy" - Barack Obama
Hey New Jersey! My name is Geovanni Flores Peralta and I am honored and delighted to be your 2018 Middle Level Representative. My involvement in my student council started in sixth grade, but my passion to being a leader started back in elementary school. I loved helping out my peers and helping out my teachers. Since entering middle school, I wanted to continue using this passion and be able to see another side of me. I was very into politics so when I found out about it, I wanted to join immediately.
I currently attend Lakewood Middle School and I’ve served as corresponding secretary and currently the Vice President for 7th grade in my student council. I also participate in Big Brothers/Big Sisters program from New Jersey Natural Gas in Wall township, am in my school’s Yearbook Club, and play the viola in my school’s orchestra. Outside school, I don’t participate in sports, however, I do like playing volleyball and a little soccer. In my church, I am an alter server.
I am grateful for my student council members, my advisor Ms. Douglas, my school principal and my friends and family who helped me out throughout the process. I cannot wait to work alongside the executive board to take NJASC to new heights and see what’s in store this upcoming year. I can’t wait for all the exciting experiences I’ll have with the new board and look forward to being the voice of my fellow peers across New Jersey.
